LOCAL Finds

Perseus's Strawberry Maritozzo 🍓
Perseus Sound Bar in MidCity opened this summer and I can't get enough. If you're wondering, this place is worth the hype. This space is a great vibe to enjoy a chat with friends or get some work done, all to the soundtrack of some great music. And if the environment wasn't enough, the food is excellent. This authentic Italian pastry is a fluffy orange brioche filled with house-made whipped cream and strawberry preserves... you need one rn.

Rocket City Trash Pandas ⚾️
This summer, I completed one the Huntsville rites of passage: attend a Trash Pandas game! It's such a good way to get out of the house and just have some fun. We got to go on the fourth of July. It made for a great 250th: enjoying America's pass time and watching fireworks after the game.

Thrifting at Jackalope Folk 🏷️
Attention all thrifters! Morgan Parton with Jackalope Folk has officially opened her booth at Firehouse Antiques and it's incredible! The thought behind these curated pieces is evident – intentionally sourced, beautifully styled and a treat to browse. With her space plus the seemingly endless rows of other vendors in this space, just go ahead and schedule a whole afternoon for this adventure.
FROM THE DESIGN WORLD

Bob's Red Mill's Rebrand
Bob's Red Mill is a brand built on the legacy of it's founder – so much so that his image was front and center on the brand. When you have a history like that, rebrands become a little risky. What I love about this example is their approach. Bob's recognized that they had a responsibility to their audience when making this change, so they announced it intentionally.
In this rebrand announcement, they addressed why the change was happening, noting that they were due for an update and that improved package design would help with their products' identity on the shelf. Beyond that, the design more clearly communicates the variations in their flours, so buyers know what they're getting. I also love that they explain the design choices like how the new brand incorporates pieces of their heritage to honor the history.
It's an example of legacy rebrand done right. Makes me wonder where Cracker Barrel would be if they had taken the same approach.
